Mortuary 
  • Retrieval and transportation to the agency morgue of decedents from hospitals; nursing homes; group and private homes; streets; motor vehicles; woods; subways, trains and tracks; bodies of water; public, private, abandoned or hazardous buildings

  • Assistance on death scenes with preliminary examination of decedent

  • Preparation of body for post-mortem examination or autopsy; assistance during such procedures; restoration of body following completion of autopsy

  • Preparation of specimens for the toxicology laboratory and storage

  • Release of decedents and personal effects to funeral homes

  • Photograph or digitally record decedent for purposes of decedent identification and to provide accurate documentation of the post-mortem examination or autopsy and what was observed or examined by the medical examiner

  • Maintenance of files of case photographs

  • Assistance in preparation of photographs, transparencies, radiographs and digital documents for agency presentations for court testimony, education, seminars and forensically related presentations
