About OCME

The mission of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) is to investigates and certifies all deaths in the District of Columbia that occur as the result of violence (injury) as well as those that occur unexpectedly, without medical attention, in custody, or pose a threat to public health.

OCME Provides forensic services to government agencies, health care providers and citizens in the Washington DC metropolitan area to ensure that justice is served and to improve the health and safety of the public.
