2022 Maternal Mortality Review Committee Annual Report

The MMRC is proud to present its third Annual Report. This report includes case discussions, data, and recommendations developed in 2022 from the review of maternal deaths that occurred in 2018, 2019, and 2020. Through this report, we share the ways our community, health, and social systems might have intervened to prevent maternal mortality, while also protecting the privacy of the decedents and their families. The Violence Fatality Review Committee (VFRC) will identify, evaluate, and make systemic recommendations to improve programs responsible for protecting and serving the residents of the District of Columbia.

The Overdose Fatality Review Board (OFRB) is pleased to present its 5th Annual Report, highlighting the factors contributing to overdose fatalities and the strategic actions implemented in the District of Columbia. This report presents an overview of deaths that occurred in 2023 and includes statistics on opioid deaths from 2021 that were reviewed by OFRB in 2023. OFRB remains committed to implementing impactful interventions and developing recommendations to enhance outcomes for residents of the District.

Cremation, Anatomical Donation or Burial at Sea

OCME can usually process requests within 24 hours of submission.
