The OCME Fatality Review Unit provides review and analysis services to District entities serving defined populations and to the public, in order to address systemic problems, provide better services and be accountable in specified areas. The Fatality Review Unit currently includes the following committees and boards:

To reduce the number of preventable child fatalities in the District of Columbia through identifying, evaluating, and improving programs and systems, which are responsible for protecting and serving children, and their families.
Developmental Disabilities Fatality Review Committee (DD FRC)
To reduce the number of preventable deaths of individuals with mental retardation and developmental disabilities through identifying, evaluating, and improving programs and systems responsible for protecting and serving citizens.
